One way we want to support the work of intentional integration going forward is to document and learn from our work in the past. With support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Sociological Initiatives Foundation, we are now in a position to take a very serious look back at the work in communities that have engaged in intentional work on stable integration. Our goal is to gather the stories and cull the lessons that can guide our work more fully going forward. We have engaged a very well respected national evaluation and research organization to help us, and with them, we have developed a project that will yield a variety of products that can be shared with a very wide public. |

On the horizon, OPEN will be launching an annual OPEN Communities award program to recognize and celebrate thriving inclusive communities. With a set of objective, measurable criteria, and a committee of qualified independent reviewers, OPEN will honor communities from across the nation. These honorees will receive national and local press, mementos, and tools to leverage this recognition. Our goal is to make integrated communities recipients of the praise and emulation they so richly deserve. |

OPENMaps was created because promoting the assets of diverse communities is a vital part of marketing a message of stability and inclusiveness. The maps have enormous potential because they involve people in depicting the important points. In creating, updating and displaying a map, residents affirm that their community is a great place to live with assets that attract people of all backgrounds. |
